Fabricator - Machine Shop - Shift 1

This position reports to the Supervisor. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Employment Category: Full-Time Regular.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, layout, position, align, fit, and weld parts of structural metal and pipe, including sanitary welding processes.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits by following blueprints and layout specifications.
• Use MIG and TIG welders, plasma cutters, grinders, and hand tools.
• Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares, levels, and measuring tapes.
• Tack-weld fitted parts together.
• Layout and examine metal stock or workpieces to ensure specifications are met.
• Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
• Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
• Move parts into position manually or with hoists and cranes.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shear, Ironworker, drill press, pipe bender, and band saw to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
• Fit stainless and carbon steel schedule pipe, as well as sanitary process piping.
• Set up and operate orbital welder facing machine, purging process, and hand welding.
• Use aerial man lifts to install equipment and utilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School/GED or two to five years’ experience in a related field or a combination of both education and experience.
• Verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility, including maintaining a clean driving record (verified through a background check).

Skills

• Competently weld stainless and carbon steel using MIG and TIG processes.

• Pass and maintain forklift certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Shear and break experience (preferred but willing to train).
• Sanitary process piping experience.
• Orbital welder experience (preferred but willing to train).

Physical Demands

• Environmental exposure to hot/humid conditions (95°F or above).
• Environmental exposure to cold/wet conditions (40°F or below).
• Material exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders and scaffolding using 3-point contact regularly.
• Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle objects in repetitive motions for extended periods.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Schedule

1st Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time off schedules may also be mandatory depending on department/business needs.

Pay

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.25 per hour.
