About the Role

This role supports Spirit AeroSystems’ Commercial Business Units, which designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including fuselages, pylons, nacelles, and wing components for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The focus is on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Relocation assistance is available to those who qualify.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve on-time delivery, cost, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Set future staffing needs and develop the team.
  • Conduct performance reviews for subordinates.
  • Partner with support functions on new or changing statements of work.
  • Communicate with internal customers.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Finishing/Processing, Assembly, or Machining.
  • 5+ years of experience managing/supervising a team of 100 or more employees.
  • 5+ years of leadership/management experience (industry or military).
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior management-level experience reporting to Senior Leadership on department production status.
  • Prior budgetary responsibility or review experience for associated department P&L.
  • Experience reviewing, delivering, or monitoring production metrics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience leading teams and driving root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Ability to coach and develop teams.
  • Prior experience working with and leading multiple cross-functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • MBA.
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • 10+ years of experience in Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Industrial Manufacturing, Chemical Finishing/Processing, Assembly, or Machining.
  • Prior SAP experience.
  • Understanding of a manufacturing production atmosphere.
  • Versatile manufacturing and machining experience.
  • Experience supervising Union employees.
  • Experience with aircraft maintenance or machining.
  • Experience working in a 24/7 operations environment.

Pay

Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $106,300 - $163,000

Join Spirit AeroSystems’ Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.
