Fabrication- Operator Level 1 (3rd Shift)

Reports to: Shift Leader with directions from a Team Leader. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Schedule

• 3rd shift: Sunday night to Thursday night, 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
• Mandatory overtime on off days as necessary.
• Training will be on 1st shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

About the role

The Fabrication Operator Level 1 assists in overseeing machinery, including calibrating equipment, monitoring gauges and machines for proper operation, and documenting/recording information while conducting quality control testing. All duties must be completed while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures during all operations.
• Operate designated machines within the Fabrication Department (e.g., Cut Saws, Punch Press).
• Complete and understand required quality checks.
• Perform shift start and end equipment checks and 5S.
• Report problems with parts or equipment.
• Properly follow all department/equipment SOPs.
• Record daily production numbers.
• Complete all required paperwork.
• Perform job duties with special attention to detail.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate basic mechanical ability.
• Possess basic computer skills capable of pulling prints and using JDE.
• Use digital calipers.
• Read and understand tape measures.
• Pass a skills assessment.
• Maintain a satisfactory employment history.
• Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and effectively.
• Self-motivated, self-starter with a minimum of three (3) months of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (hands-on training available).
• Pass a company background check and drug screen.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively to internal customers.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Conscientious, diplomatic, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., customer complaints, time pressures).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Works near moving mechanical parts; noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
• No air conditioning.
