About the role

The Fabrication Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for supporting and improving fabrication operations, including laser cutting, waterjet cutting, press brake forming, and related equipment. This position serves as the key link between Engineering and Manufacturing, ensuring designs are manufacturable, processes are standardized, and production goals for quality, delivery, and efficiency are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Support and optimize fabrication equipment operations, setups, troubleshooting, changeovers, and first-piece inspections.
  • Monitor machine performance, minimize downtime, and coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and aligned with production capabilities.
  • Review drawings, support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives, and assist with new product introductions (NPI).
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and process improvements to reduce setup times, improve quality, and increase throughput.
  • Analyze production data and lead continuous improvement efforts focused on efficiency, scrap reduction, and productivity.
  • Create and maintain standard work instructions, setup guides, and process documentation.
  • Train operators on fabrication equipment and standardized procedures to ensure consistency and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of an associate’s degree in manufacturing engineering or related field; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • Experience in a fabrication or metal manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or press brake operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work directly on the shop floor in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with both production personnel and engineering teams.
  • Experience with laser cutting, waterjet, and press brake equipment preferred.
  • Strong manufacturing engineering knowledge.
  • DFM experience.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across engineering and production teams.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $75,000.00 – $90,000.00/year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
