Fabrication Detailer

About the role

This entry-level role serves as an introduction to BIM/VDC processes and emphasizes a strong commitment to learning, growth, and skill development within the construction technology environment. The Fabrication Detailer is responsible for developing a basic understanding of the tools, workflows, and standards involved in producing accurate and cost-effective shop drawings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to develop the ability to interpret specifications and contract documents accurately.
• Build foundational knowledge of the mechanical and plumbing systems represented in our drawings.
• Learn the basics of how to read and interpret code.
• Learn the fundamentals of shop drawing creation, file management, and technical communication.
• Strive for proficiency in Revit, Autodesk Fabrication, Navisworks Manage, Bluebeam, Stratus, and other BIM software.
• Learn to communicate effectively with internal team members.
• Begin to understand BIM's financial impacts on projects.
• Spend time in the field to learn what elements lead to successful projects.
• Learn the BOM, fabrication drawing, and Trimble layout basics.
• Adhere to the departmental code of ethics while exemplifying professionalism that appropriately represents the Company.
• Provide production of models and shop drawings.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Aptitude for technical means and methods.
• Analytical and structural mindset.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic software (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, Bluebeam, Stratus) knowledge.
• Basic trade (mechanical and/or plumbing) knowledge.

Travel

5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Climbing stairs.
• Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Quiet environment.
• Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
