FAAS-Commodities-Senior Manager
About the role
The commodities markets team is a national competency within EY's Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) practice. This team is growing rapidly and works across various industries, offering strategic advice to clients on commodity markets.
Responsibilities
- Consulting with clients on complex commodities risk, asset, and derivative valuations
- Collaborating with partners, senior managers, and clients to influence strategy around commodity markets, balancing risk and client expectations
- Ensuring the engagement team thoroughly understands the unique needs, ambitions, and expectations of clients
- Building relationships with colleagues across multiple service lines to provide seamless integrated service
- Managing performance and identifying opportunities to improve products and processes
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, finance, information technology, accounting, or a related field and at least 8 years of work experience
- US CPA licensure in your work state
- Direct experience with commodity procurement, trading, or valuation processes from an operational perspective, with a focus on middle- and back-office operations
- Experience with accounting for derivative and hedging activities
- A strong working knowledge of commodity markets, instruments, and regulatory pronouncements
- A basic understanding of financial modeling, particularly for commodity, especially energy, transactions
- A proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring, and improving a team of high-performing colleagues
- The confidence to provide expertise in deal structuring, valuation, and market drivers in the energy markets
- The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary
- Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations
Qualifications
- A master's degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or a related discipline is preferred
- Internal or External Audit experience in a large firm is ideal
Benefits
At EY, we offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including a base salary range of $146,700 to $335,100 in all geographic locations in the US, and $176,000 to $380,800 in the New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento). Individual salaries are determined based on a variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. We also provide a wide range of benefits including medical and dental coverage, a pension plan, and a 401(k) plan, along with flexible vacation policies and paid time off for designated holidays, winter/summer breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves of absence.
