About the Role

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a F135 Engine Technician to serve as a member of our F135 Field Team supporting the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD. The candidate will work in a team environment with Field Service Engineers, Engineering, and our customers to provide world-class maintenance and support.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, assembling, and testing Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-0100/600 gas turbine engines, modules, associated new technologies, and Rolls Royce LiftFan System.
  • Performing F135 engine flightline inspection and maintenance activities on the F-35B/C Lighting II aircraft.
  • Conducting routine maintenance of support equipment.
  • Finding and utilizing technical manuals for maintenance.
  • Participating in and complying with Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) Operating System and Environmental, Health, & Safety programs, training, and activities.
  • Working atop maintenance platforms, ascending/descending maintenance stands, lifting 25 pounds to a height of 4 feet, and positioning self to perform maintenance/inspections underneath engine rails, inside the engine exhaust duct, and aircraft inlet.
  • Using computers and software such as Microsoft Office and PDF readers.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance (Secret level required after day 1).
  • Active and existing security clearance.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, any shift with adequate notice, and support periodic travel requirements.
  • Pass a drug screen, background check, and any additional security checks by the U.S. government.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience in the disassembly, inspection, and assembly of aircraft gas turbine engines.
  • Knowledge of interpreting Safety Data Sheets and use of PPE.

Preferred

  • FAA A&P License.
  • Previous military experience in tear down/buildup of jet engines.
  • Familiarity with flight line maintenance operations.
  • Previous certification on engine borescope, engine blade blending, and test cell operation.
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, or similar methodologies.

Schedule

Shift hours are 2:00pm to 10:30pm, 2nd Shift.
