Extrusion Team Lead
Position Summary
The Extrusion Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily extrusion production activities, leading a team of operators, and ensuring production, quality, and safety goals are achieved. This role coordinates manpower, materials, and equipment to meet customer demands while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise extrusion production employees to ensure safe and efficient operations
Review and delegate press schedules to maintain continuous production flow
Cookordinate die changes, alloy changes, and production setups
Ensure materials, tooling, and equipment are available for scheduled production runs
Verify operators are following press recipes, procedures, and specifications within EPIC
Monitor productivity, quality, and scrap rates while identifying opportunities for improvement
Prepare and communicate daily production reports
Support production by learning and assisting in all extrusion department positions as needed
Cross-train team members to improve flexibility and department coverage
Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Enforce company safety policies and take immediate corrective action when needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
Leadership Responsibilities
Supervise a team of approximately 5 employees
Train, coach, and develop team members
Assign daily work and production priorities
Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback
Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues
Foster a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and productivity
Qualifications
Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Technical Requirements:
- Demonstrate the ability to:
- Lead an extrusion press crew
- Set up and operate extrusion department equipment
- Understand and follow press practices and production procedures
- Use precision measuring tools accurately
- Identify defects and determine material disposition according to company and customer requirements
- Perform basic maintenance on department equipment
- Train and mentor employees effectively
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred
Manufacturing, extrusion, or leadership experience is a plus
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered
