Extrusion Operator

About the role

Set up and operate extrusion equipment based on job specifications set by the customer. Communicate effectively with other operators up and down the line to problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and can drawings to determine job specifications and tooling.
• Set up and operate all extrusion equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on extrusion-related equipment.
• Observe machine operations to detect faults and make necessary adjustments.
• Communicate with fellow operators to update on production status.
• Perform routine quality checks and record findings to ensure cans meet job specifications.
• Proficiently perform changeovers and production of aluminum containers to customer specifications.
• Authority to stop and/or modify work processes due to non-conformance or unsafe working conditions.
• Report all potential food safety concerns to the quality assurance manager.
• Perform all other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Basic computer skills.
• Blueprint reading ability.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Measuring skills using calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Quality control skills.
• Must be a team player with a "can do" attitude.
• Ability to stand for long periods on a concrete floor.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.

Work Environment

This role is in a manufacturing environment. The employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and noise.
