Extrusion Operator

Responsibilities

• Inputting the appropriate parameters to maximize efficiency of the extruder.
• Following the assigned production schedule.
• Keeping the area(s) and machine(s) clean and free of debris.
• Troubleshooting the extruder system for zone temperatures, vacuum, melt filtration, extruder speed and pelletizing parameters, pellet output quality and rate, and refresher system operation.
• Filing work requests for repairs or preventive maintenance.
• Conducting melt filter screen changes, including cleaning of all parts involved using brass brushes and an incinerator oven followed by water pressure cleaning or sand blasting.
• Coordinating with Quality Associate (QA) to maintain product quality and avoid off-spec cross-contamination in the silos.
• Participating and supporting a safe work environment by following all facility safety and compliance policies and procedures.
• Participating and supporting adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and procedures for every employee and visitor.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Minimum of 6 months‑4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures.
• Critical decision‑making ability.
• Flexibility and adaptability with the ability to focus and pay attention to detail.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking; lifting and carrying 0‑49 lbs.; pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, stooping, kneeling; reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions.
