Extrusion Operator

Job Duties

• Assist on starting up and shutting down of the line.
• Adjust setting if needed in communication with shift leader and within process specification.
• Makes quality checks.
• Performs time sensitive quality checks.
• Ensures the extrusion line has correct raw materials.
• Accounts in system the produced products.
• Adjusts, calibrates, and tests equipment at the beginning of every shift to ensure proper pressure, speed, temperature, and general operation.
• Examines visually, weighs, and measures components created from equipment at the end of the week to ensure machines are producing according to company and industry regulations and standards, adjusting as needed.
• Works with team members, shift supervisors, and all necessary personnel to handle complications as they arise.
• Communicates with fellow team members to learn of any equipment problems or malfunctions and takes care of them as they come up.
• Uses regulated cleaning solutions, grease guns, oil cans, air hoses, and cleaning cloths to properly maintain and clean equipment on a bimonthly basis.
• Makes repairs to equipment when necessary, and replaces all defective, broken, or worn-out components.
• Selects and installs cutters, molds, and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency.
• Responsible for order and cleanliness.
• Fulfills safety guidelines.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Extrusion experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification, and drug screening.
• Positive and verifiable work history.

Physical Demands

• Frequently will push, pull, carry, and lift 50 lbs.
• Frequent walking, standing, stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements.
• Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently must be able to work in moderate noise, up to 83 decibels.
• Exposure to noise environment requiring hearing protection.
• Must be able and willing to work in non-temperature-controlled environments, exposed to weather conditions.
• Frequent mental demands include making decisions, developing options and implementing solutions, working with a team, maintaining regular and punctual attendance (consistent with ADA and/or FMLA), attention to detail, communicating effectively, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and working with a sense of urgency.
