Job Summary
Are you someone who enjoys working with machinery, solving problems, and producing high-quality work? As an Extruder Operator, you'll operate and monitor our advanced extrusion equipment to manufacture products that meet our high standards for quality and performance.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Expertly operate extrusion lines (up to 3”) and manage high-capacity 72-inch winding equipment.
- Control precise heat zones (4–8 zones) and program digital inkjet systems for product coding.
- Maintain equipment integrity by following manufacturer specs and company safety standards.
- Perform precision testing using calipers to verify diameter, wall thickness, and conductor centering.
- Master 100% traceability by matching every spool’s physical label to its digital “Traveler” record.
- Ensure safety compliance by using spark boxes to detect and resolve insulation defects instantly.
- Adhere to all safety requirements and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) during setup and maintenance.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and daily machine cleaning to ensure peak performance.
- Manage final packaging including professional cable wrapping and standardized palletizing.
- Mentor the team by cross-training Extrusion Assistants to hit production targets.
- Maintain flawless records including production logs, labels, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Detail-Oriented
- Comfortable using basic math and are willing to learn how to use precision tools like calipers to measure product thickness.
- Comfortable using computers or touchscreens to enter data.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly to keep track of production numbers and labels.
- Track record of being on time and ready to work for every shift.
- Eager to build new skills, ask questions when you're unsure, and take pride in the quality of your work.
- Coachability to follow instructions well, listen to feedback, and are happy to help your teammates when needed.
- Initiative to keep your workstation tidy and organized without being asked.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced environment and calm when production priorities change.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, machinery, and varying temperatures.
Shift Opportunities
- During Training - First Shift: 7:00am - 3:00pm, Mon-Fri
- After Training - Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Mon-Fri (+ $2.50)
Compensation & Benefits
- The starting pay for this position is $22.00 per hour ($24.50 after training).
