About the role
The Extruder Maintenance Technician (Nightshift) will promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures and collaborating with the operations team to resolve production issues, both mechanical and electrical.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and/or control devices including AC or DC drives, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, power supplies, sensors, and indicator lights.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery or equipment to validate work performed.
- Support the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program with a goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime.
- Complete all assigned work orders within the time allotted and maintain complete records of work performed.
- Assist in identifying required parts, maintain current inventories, and reorder parts as necessary.
- Complete standard work and gain a working knowledge of plant equipment and its operation.
- Assist production, process engineers, and project engineers in meeting daily priorities, coverage, and special projects.
- Assist with equipment unexpected shutdowns, changeovers, and line startups.
- Share knowledge and techniques with team members and assist with training new personnel.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including housekeeping of maintenance shops and toolboxes.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum completion of a 2-year vocational school or commensurate experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge and skills.
- Intermediate to advanced electrical knowledge and skills.
- Fundamental to applied knowledge of PLCs.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Able to perform assigned duties without direct supervision.
- Maintenance Excellence or Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 49 lbs and stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
