About the role
This position is responsible for the production of extracts and emulsions in a flavors manufacturing facility. Team members monitor equipment, follow sanitary practices, move and lift products into tanks, and filter product through presses and homogenizers.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and controls processes, including blending, extraction, and filtration.
- Completes appropriate documentation and batch sheets.
- Operates process and utility equipment in a hygienic and safe manner in accordance with all process procedures, cGMP, and HACCP instructions and guidelines.
- Acts with safety awareness and accident prevention in mind during all tasks.
- Sets up, calibrates, and monitors instruments such as filter presses, chillers, and homogenizers.
- Tears down, cleans, and re-assembles equipment, including pumps, filter presses, valves, utensils, vessels, and lines.
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and responds to deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations.
- Performs minor maintenance work on equipment to ensure continuous operation of the process.
- Completes indicator readings and test results, such as specific gravity.
- Lifts heavy drums and bags (up to 50 lbs.) while wearing proper PPE.
- Follows detailed instructions to operate equipment in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and performing under pressure while remaining flexible.
- Adheres to sanitary guidelines for CIP (Clean-In-Place) and cleaning.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- General knowledge of workplace safety and quality processes, including GMPs and allergens.
- Must follow safety requirements and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes, safety goggles, and a mask as necessary.
- Experience compounding batches.
- Basic math skills.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate and report issues.
- Chemical experience is a plus.
- Ability to multitask or handle multiple simultaneous projects and priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization, including technical teams.
- Ability to manually lift 50 lbs. continuously when necessary.
- Ability to perform shift work as necessary.
Pay
Hourly rate: $20 per hour (higher with experience).
Schedule
1st shift: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM.
