Examples of Duties
- Locate and identify citizens in need of community services.
- Identify and research available community resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of programs.
- Provide other needed assistance within the scope of the information concerning appropriate services and eligibility requirements.
- Auxiliary in publicizing various services.
- Perform detailed assessment of program eligibility.
- Auxiliary in completion of various programs applications and forms.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from high school.
- One (1) year clerical experience or experience involving public contact is required.
- Experience working with seniors and telephone skills are desirable.
- Selected applicant must be able to pass fingerprint and background check.
Essential Functions
- Communicate effectively with others in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
- Frequent operation of personal computer and other modern office equipment.
- Respond appropriately to situations.
- Locates and identifies citizens in need of community resources.
- Identifies and researches available community resources.
- Performs simple clerical work.
- Repetitive motion, sitting for long periods, walking.
- Occasional standing, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, climbing.
- Lifting – Frequently 5 pounds or less; occasionally 5 to 30 pounds.
- Constant good overall vision and reading and close-up work.
- Frequent color perception and use of eye/hand coordination.
- Occasional use of depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Frequent decision making, concentration, and public contact.
- Sometimes requires working weekends, nights, and/or occasional overtime.
- Occasional exposure to noise; occasional contact with dirt, dust, indoor/outdoor cold and heat; occasional exposure to varied weather conditions.
- Regular attendance is an essential function.

- Governmental programs relating to senior citizens and other community residents.
- Community Resources.
- Problems, needs and attitudes of senior citizens and other community residents.
Skills
- Communicate effectively with senior citizens and other community residents.
- Conduct individual and group presentations.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
- Read, write and understand English.
