External Reporting Analyst

Responsibilities

• Prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and other regulatory agencies.
• Assist in preparing SEC filings, including Form 10‑K, Form 10‑Q, Form 8‑K, Form 11‑K, and other regulatory statements as required.
• Prepare and/or review workpapers supporting financial statement disclosures.
• Review XBRL instance documents as assigned.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure completeness and accuracy of support workpapers for financial reporting.
• Prepare work papers and draft financial statements (including footnotes) for:
  • Audits of defined contribution plans (Form 11‑K) and related Form 5500 information.
  • Limited‑scope audits of defined benefit pension plans and related Form 5500 information.
  • Form 8‑K filings associated with acquisitions, dispositions, retrospectively adjusted financial statements, etc.
  • Separate company financial statements (audited and non‑audited).
  • Other reports as assigned.
• Stay current on new GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and incorporate changes into the reporting process.
• Assist with identifying and resolving technical accounting and/or reporting issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Able and willing to work on‑site, in‑person at the Valero San Antonio location.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting.
• 2+ years of experience in Accounting, equivalent Public Accounting, and/or Auditing.
• CPA or CPA Candidate required.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in the refining industry.
• Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience using Workiva’s Wdesk application.
• Experience applying XBRL.
