Extension Custodian – Adair County (Temporary/Part-Time)

Temporary, part-time position located in Columbia, KY. May end at any time.

About the role

As an Extension Custodian, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, and other basic custodial aspects of the Extension office. Duties include facility management, cleaning, maintenance, basic landscaping, conference room setup, and general repairs while conducting yourself in a professional manner. You will report to an Extension Agent and interact with the general public.

Responsibilities

• Clean, stock, and maintain bathrooms and kitchen areas
• Vacuum and dust the entire office area
• Empty trash and recyclables
• Maintain and clean outdoor areas
• Strip and wax floors
• Change light bulbs
• Steam clean carpets
• Perform landscaping, mowing, and weed eating
• Set up conference rooms

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to sweep, mop, vacuum, and operate floor scrubber/buffer
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 lbs
• Ability to engage in regular/routine standing, walking, squatting, bending, reaching, and climbing
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
• Pass a national and state criminal background check
• Provide a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating clearance to hire based on no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in the maintenance or janitorial field

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Occasional nights, weekends, or holidays may be required
• 15 hours per week

Pay

$15.61 per hour
