About the role
The ELO Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) programs in the district, ensuring equitable access to high-quality learning experiences for students.
Responsibilities
- Partner with counselors, teachers, and administrators to identify students for ELO pathways, including credit recovery, acceleration, and personalized learning.
- Guide students and families through ELO options, learning plan development, and the application and placement process.
- Maintain accurate records of student ELO plans, progress, and credit awards in the district's student information system.
- Prepare state and local reports; ensure ELO practices comply with Maine DOE regulations, RSU 2 Board policies, and applicable law.
- Analyze program data to identify trends and equity gaps; report findings to school and district leadership.
- Assist with grants and funding opportunities related to ELO, work-based learning, and career-connected programming.
- Partner with building principals, curriculum coordinators, and the Assistant Superintendent to align ELOs with school improvement and district strategic priorities.
- Provide professional development to staff on ELO design, competency-based assessment, and community partnership protocols.
- Serve on district and school committees related to curriculum, instruction, graduation requirements, and student support.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices in extended learning, competency-based education, and Maine educational policy; attend relevant professional development and state ELO networks.
- Maintain required certifications and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Hold current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in education, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Maine teaching certification or school counseling certification preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education, school counseling, career and technical education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of extended learning opportunities, competency-based education, or work-based learning programs preferred.
- Experience working with high school students in secondary or post-secondary settings.
- Knowledge of Maine’s diploma requirements, Learning Results, and Department of Education ELO guidelines preferred.
- Experience building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, employers, or higher education institutions preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and to develop effective working relationships with students, families, school staff, community partners, and district leadership.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across two high schools.

$38.00 to $50.00 per hour.
