Job Summary
The Extended Care Lead supports the mission of St. Joseph Catholic Academy by providing proactive supervision and ensuring the safety, well-being, and care of students participating in the Extended Care program.
Morning Extended Care
- Begins at 6:00 a.m.
- Supervises students until the school doors open at 7:40 a.m.
Afterschool Extended Care
- Reports to campus at 3:00 p.m.
- Student care begins at 3:45 p.m.
- Continues until all students have been picked up, with 5:45 p.m. serving as the scheduled end time.
Essential Duties
- Provides active and proactive supervision of students.
- Maintains a safe, caring, and positive environment.
- Follows all school policies and procedures related to student safety and supervision.
- Communicates appropriately with students, families, and school staff.
- Helps maintain an organized and engaging Extended Care program.
- Ensures students are properly signed in and released to authorized individuals.
Ministerial Character
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
- Makes sure individual students receive small instructional group support.
- Develops and implements daily activity planning.
- Maintains the safety and security of students.
- Assists students with homework assignments.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 1-2 years of childcare, preferred.
- Certifications and Training: Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) Application for Ministry within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM Basic abuse prevention training workshop within 60 days of submitting a complete Application for Ministry, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment.
- Physical Demands: Required to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, furniture, or equipment; sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak daily; perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading; monitor students in a variety of locations, including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
Working Conditions
- All school employees are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the principal in the exercise of the principal's ministry and obligations to the school.
- Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
- Required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
- Required to work in multiple educational settings.

Employee Certification
- Adheres to the Catholic Schools Standards of Conduct, the Diocese of Austin EIM policies, and the social, ethical, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as interpreted by the Bishop of Austin.
