Expressive Therapist (Art, Music), Part Time

Job Description

Counsels group therapy using expressive therapy modalities in alignment with the Treatment Plan.

Affirms patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional status to determine eligibility for group treatment.

Conducts Expressive Therapy Assessments for new patients.

Documents patient progress at the conclusion of each group and individual session.

Motivates patients to engage in Expressive Therapy and other unit activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of inpatient and intensive outpatient programs
• Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and therapeutic approaches for appropriate interactions and interventions
• Patient-centered approach with ability to connect with each patient
• Awareness of therapeutic boundaries and ability to monitor transference within the therapeutic relationship
• Computer knowledge and use of electronic medical records
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English

Education

• Bachelor's occupational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, or activity therapy
• Master's occupational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, or activity therapy [Preferred]

Field Of Study

• N/A

Work Experience

• 1+ year experience working with psychiatric, physical rehabilitation or medical patients or other position related experience
• 2+ years of position related experience [Preferred]

Additional Information

• Formal de-escalation training

Licenses And Certifications

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) [Preferred]
• OR Occupational Therapist (OT) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
• NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program [Preferred]
