About the role
The Export Traffic Controller coordinates all shipping functions, ensures compliance with federal and state export regulations, and verifies required processes and procedures are followed before, during, and after shipment. This role handles hazardous, export, and other special shipping instructions and documentation. Based in Cortland, NY, this on-site position reports to the Materials Manager and is part of the Operations team.
Responsibilities
- Manage, oversee, and analyze traffic procedures and shipment handling for PTM and PRDC products.
- Maintain working knowledge of SAP to support daily shipment processing.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure shipping paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Process Manual Delivery shipments, update the online database daily, contact carriers as needed, and prepare required invoices, SEDs, and bills of lading for goods not on a customer order.
- Maintain appropriate backup documentation in accordance with company policy.
- Process customer orders, contact carriers as needed, and prepare bills of lading, invoices, SEDs, and other special documentation, including packing lists and special invoices.
- Ensure a safe working environment consistent with OSHA and company policies, maintain and use required safety equipment, and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Business or a related technical field.
- Seven years of experience in logistics, traffic, and shipping, or nine years of experience in a related discipline.
- Dangerous Goods certification required for air shipments.
- Regulatory and compliance background in trucking materials.
- Experience handling hazardous materials.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $80,000–$95,000. This role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
