About the role
The town of Wayland Police Department seeks candidates for a per diem Civilian Traffic Controller. Under the direction of the Chief of Police, this essential role supports the Town's public safety operations by monitoring and directing motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians at posts throughout Wayland where road construction or other hazards may exist to ensure the safe and orderly flow of traffic. Civilian Traffic Controllers are non-sworn, unarmed, civilians and have no law enforcement authority or powers of arrest.
Qualifications
- Must have High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must maintain CPR training and basic first-aid certifications.
- Must have and maintain a license to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be certified by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), or similar instruction in traffic control. Retired Police Officer may have this requirement waived at the discretion of the Police Chief.
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of the position.
- Must be able to pass a detailed background check.
Pay
Hourly Rate: $60 per hour; $75 per hour for Sundays & Holidays
