Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC regulations, and other government agency requirements.
- Implement and manage processes for screening transactions and business partners against denied and restricted parties lists through integrated screening and risk management tools.
- Create Restricted Party List (RPL) and risk dashboard for regular legal review.
- Solicit End Use / End User Compliance from suppliers and manage document requests for customers.
- Develop and implement export compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with U.S. export regulations and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees on U.S. export requirements, focusing on export control laws, licensing procedures, and other regulatory obligations.
- Liaise with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and applicable U.S. government agencies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with export activities. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and develop strategies to address potential compliance challenges.
- Ensure accurate and timely record keeping of trade transactions. Maintain and enhance trade automation tool with respect to sanctions, embargoes and anti-boycott compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., legal, supply chain, logistics, procurement) to ensure smooth and compliant import/export processes.
- Manage export license applications in trade compliance tool and maintain records per U.S. export regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in trade compliance, specifically in U.S. import/export regulations, with a strong focus on export control.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., ECoP, CXS, Certified Export Compliance Professional (CECP), Licensed Customs Broker).
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. trade laws, including EAR, ITAR, OFAC regulations, and U.S. Customs requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage restricted party screenings and sanction compliance program.
- Excellent understanding of ECCN, HTS and Schedule B classification.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in interacting with U.S. government agencies and managing audits.
