About the role

The Expert Platform Product Owner will guide cross-functional Agile teams in delivering secure, scalable, and business-aligned platforms. This role translates product strategy into clear requirements, creates product roadmaps, manages KPIs, and prioritizes the product backlog. You will partner closely with business, engineering, operations, cyber, and product stakeholders to maximize value across enterprise technology initiatives and ensure alignment across all platform products.

This position is hybrid, requiring work from your remote office and in Oakland, CA at least once per week, or more based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Scrum teams as the Product Owner, ensuring alignment among business priorities, product strategy, and delivery execution.
  • Identify developmental needs of resources and coach/mentor team members to improve their skills.
  • Analyze work plans and schedules to reallocate resources or reprioritize program work.
  • Provide vision and direction to Agile development teams and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain a healthy, well-groomed backlog of prioritized work for the delivery team.
  • Own complex and major release planning and set clear expectations for delivery of new functionality.
  • Understand business pain points, desired outcomes, and value drivers to clearly articulate product value.
  • Communicate effectively with executive, business, functional, and technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as a bridge between business, product, and engineering teams to support shared understanding, vendor strategies, and evaluations.
  • Own BPD planning and support alignment between planning activities and delivery outcomes.
  • Drive and develop implementation plans across products and platforms.
  • Own and develop strategies to reduce technical debt and communicate product releases.
  • Coordinate asset management plans across platform products.
  • Align product roadmaps for various technology capabilities with business priorities across platforms.
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage contracts and licenses.
  • Own, define, measure, track, and report KPIs.
  • Drive process improvements through lean methodology of problem-solving.
  • Introduce and drive platform-supporting AI initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of job-related experience as a Product Owner or similar roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (desired).
  • Five years of experience as a Product Owner in an Agile environment (desired).
  • Product Owner, Scrum Master, or other Agile certification (desired).
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent cloud platform certification (desired).
  • Knowledge of Agile software development principles, values, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques relevant to the role.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and lead behavioral change.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the business and marketplace to advance organizational goals.
  • Willingness to contribute beyond defined role responsibilities.
  • Experience with BPD planning or related business planning processes (desired).
  • Experience with Operating Systems, Cloud Service Providers, and asset management (desired).

Pay

The salary range for this position in the Bay Area is $132,000 – $226,000, with the midpoint at $179,000. The actual amount will be based on factors such as internal equity, skills, education, certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for participation in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
