Expert Contributor - Biology (Task-Based)

About the Opportunity: Snorkel AI is a data development company spun out of the Stanford AI Lab, focused on improving the truthfulness and reasoning abilities of advanced AI systems. This ongoing project based opportunity to become an expert contributor will allow you to help shape the next generation of AI models by designing challenging tasks, stress-testing AI agents, and providing expert feedback that steers model behavior toward ideal solutions. No prior AI experience required. Details:We are looking for Biology experts with the ability to design and solve challenging, real-world reasoning tasks that test the limits of advanced AI systems. Contributors will create high-quality biology problems, develop rigorous solutions, and help identify where models fail in scientific reasoning. The work is designed around graduate-level difficulty, scientific precision, and reproducible evaluation. Qualifications:Deep fluency in Biology, with the ability to create graduate-level, multi-step analytical problems and produce precise, fully worked solutions.Strong review instincts — able to identify subtle scientific errors, suggest more rigorous approaches, and evaluate competing solution paths across multiple turns of a conversation.Master’s or PhD candidate, or graduate, in Biology or a related discipline.Background in one or more of: academic research, university-level teaching, advanced problem writing, laboratory science, or technical scientific communication.Bonus: familiarity with grading rubrics, olympiad- or exam-style question design, or evaluating AI-generated scientific reasoning. Details:Opportunity: Remote 1099 contractor (must be eligible).Flexibility: Work independently from anywhere, with no hours commitment.Selection Process: As part of the selection process, applicants must successfully complete an assessment. Those who meet all qualifications may be eligible for part-time, project-based engagements on an as-needed basis.Residency Restriction: Cannot reside in California Pay: Snorkel pays you per accepted task rather than an hourly rate because we believe our experts should be in control of their earnings. Accepted task payments for this modality can range from $63 to $410 with an average handling time of 60 min – 390 min. Why do we structure compensation this way? Rather than locking experts into an hourly rate, our pay philosophy seeks to reward experts for their expertise: higher productivity and better quality can earn more money, rather than making the same amount on an hourly basis for someone less productive or less qualified than you. You will always earn at least $15 per hour for work performed but have the opportunity to earn more.
