Experiential Learning Specialist
About the role
This role promotes student success by providing accurate and responsive advisement for the experiential learning experience and service-related areas, offering support, coaching, and advocacy throughout the experiential learning lifecycle. Working in a team-based approach, the position maintains and coordinates experiential learning applications from submission to registration, advises all students, and serves as the primary point of contact for students and experiential learning partners.
Responsibilities
- Maintain complete knowledge and understanding of Chamberlain’s curriculum and programs to support students by providing a thorough review of program expectations throughout their experiential learning experience.
- Prepare, document, track, and report experiential learning placements and student data to assess student schedules, provide appropriate advising, and identify triggers indicating a need for proactive outreach to support student progression.
- Review and approve sites and preceptors as appropriate based on academic rubric and escalate to the academic team as needed.
- Coach students to explore alternatives to overcome barriers to the experiential learning experience and make appropriate resource referrals when necessary.
- Actively foster relationships with internal functional areas and stakeholders to deliver an optimal student experience.
- Address student concerns using interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Provide training, guidance, and coaching to peers as needed, including sharing leading practices with colleagues.
- Function as a role model for Covista values and foster a culture of CARE consistent with the mission, vision, and purpose.
- Support approval documentation requirements for student placement working with partners and interdepartmental teams.
- Collaborate through communication and negotiation with partners and preceptors to ensure student success and strong partner relationships.
- Facilitate clinical affiliation agreements and other types of written support with partners to support experiential learning placement.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Three years of customer service or related experience preferred.
- Experience with healthcare education preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome objections and facilitate negotiations.
- Attention to detail and mental concentration necessary for accurately performing tasks; ability to adapt to change and balance competing priorities.
- Ability to work a variety of office hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Minimal travel may be required.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is between $20.51 and $28.85 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, including experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
