This is an on-site position at Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff Mountain Campus; remote work is rare. The role is temporary and subject to funding availability.

NAU Career Development, part of Student Affairs, empowers students to navigate their careers in a global world. The team prepares students for the workforce through career advising, job and internship connections, and promoting meaningful student employment and internship experiences. The department collaborates with college-specific career professionals, student affairs programs, faculty, and other university departments.

About the Role

We are seeking an Experiential Learning Coordinator to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Job Shadow Program, which strengthens students’ career preparedness through short-term experiential learning. This role involves direct service to students and requires in-person work at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Job Shadow Program Coordination (60%)
    • Process intake of Interest Forms and email communications for employers inquiring about providing job shadow experiences for NAU students.
    • Collaborate with the Program Manager on marketing and social media efforts to promote employer and student engagement.
    • Meet one-on-one with students to prepare them for job shadow experiences, including communicating professionalism expectations and supporting their understanding of how to prepare.
    • Communicate with students and employers to confirm job shadow logistics.
    • Provide excellent customer service to support and foster employer engagement.
  • Administrative Duties (30%)
    • Track program data to provide engagement metrics.
    • Work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, and Google Suite.
    • Familiarity with career development resources.
  • Other Duties (10%)
    • Assist with other duties as assigned by the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of relevant experience. A combination of related education, experience, and training may substitute for the above.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in career or workforce development.
  • Prior experience working with high school- or college-aged youth.

Pay

Salary begins at $20.00 per hour. Annual salary is commensurate with qualifications and related experience.

Northern Arizona University requires a criminal background investigation, employment history verification, and (in some cases) degree verification prior to employment. Additional pre-employment checks may be required.
