About the role

Lola Hair Studio is seeking two stylists to join our team. We are a boutique destination salon in Cambridge, MA, known for our award-winning service and generous community involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve 6–10 clients per day across cuts, color, balayage, foiling, and specialty services with technical precision and a personalized touch.
  • Conduct thorough consultations for every new client — building trust, setting expectations, and designing a service plan they’ll return for.
  • Pre-book appointments and introduce retail recommendations naturally at every checkout — not as an add-on, but as genuine client care.
  • Engage actively during downtime — assisting teammates, practicing techniques, and contributing to a teaching-hospital floor culture.
  • Attend all education programs, Lola Academy sessions, and off-site trainings — including those scheduled on your days off.

Requirements

  • 2+ years behind the chair in a quality, technique-focused salon environment; a well-trained 2-year stylist will always outplace a mediocre 5-year one.
  • Proficiency in cutting, color, balayage, foiling, and dimensional color; corrective color experience a plus.
  • Experience with curly/textured hair, extensions, or alternative hair solutions (toppers) strongly preferred; razor cutting coachable.
  • Natural client relationship skills — thorough consultations, consistent pre-booking, and retail fluency.
  • Availability for Mon/Tue/Wed + Sat or Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed (Thurs/Fri shifts currently limited; Sunday opening possible).
  • Commitment to team participation, ongoing education, and Lola’s standard of polished, 5-star professional presentation.

Qualifications

  • You’ve outgrown your current salon — or suite life has started to feel more like isolation than freedom — and you’re ready for a professional home with real community and real growth.
  • You receive feedback as fuel, not criticism — and you actively seek it.
  • You show up to education on your days off fired up, because you see it as an investment in your future, not an inconvenience.
  • You genuinely believe that sharing clients, techniques, and credit makes everyone — including you — more successful.
  • You have a 3–5 year vision for your career, and you want a place where that vision can actually happen.
  • You understand that downtime is development time — and you lean in every single time.

Skills

  • Technical precision and a personalized touch in all services.
  • Strong client relationship skills, including thorough consultations and consistent pre-booking.
  • Ability to engage actively during downtime and contribute to a teaching-hospital floor culture.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and attending all required training sessions.

Benefits

  • Up to $125K+ earning potential — we pay whichever is higher: hourly or commission — so you’re supported while you grow, and rewarded as your book performs.
  • A career map with clear milestones and a ceiling you control.
  • World-class education through Lola Academy, quarterly formal training, and off-site programs including Redken NYC.
  • Paid time off and wellness bonuses to support your overall well-being.
  • Daily mentorship from master-level educators who share techniques, insight, and credit — freely.
  • A culture that celebrates you, with peer shout-outs, birthday recognition, and anniversary celebrations woven into 3x/week huddles that open with gratitude, not logistics.

What You Will Do

First 90 Days: Assimilate into Lola’s culture so fully that your teammates already see you as one of their own — present in huddles, active on the floor, already functioning like a Lola stylist.

6 Months: Your book has real momentum — existing clients are settled into Lola, new clients are rebooking consistently, and your earnings are reflecting your effort on the floor.

1 Year: A fully booked schedule with 70%+ rebooking — and a waitlist forming, not an empty chair.
