Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical disassembly and assembly of products with complex functions requiring independent judgment
  • Teardown and rebuild a variety of used Tennant equipment
  • Learn product through self-study, hands-on experience, and guidance from a Shop Supervisor
  • Assist in all aspects of the reconditioning process
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, battery, air, and water-cooled combustion engines, and diesel-gas-LP powered engine problems on all Tennant products
  • Responsible for proper and safe use, maintenance, and reporting of Tennant Company property, including tools and equipment
  • Complete work in a timely manner and use appropriate judgment to ensure quality and cost targets are achieved on each completed machine
  • Perform in-process quality checks and communicate results
  • Recognize, communicate, and document safety concerns
  • Troubleshoot and adjust to build a quality product
  • Perform housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well-organized
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and report through the tier structure
  • Proficient in multiple sub-assembly operations and shorter cycle time mainline stations
  • Consistently present a professional image, both in personal appearance and condition of company equipment
  • Punctuality is a must for this position; individuals should have reliable means of transportation to and from work

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mobile equipment
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Can safely use hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices
  • Must be familiar with a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures within mechanical and electrical assembly
  • History of continuous improvement within previous positions
  • Related manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Physical Demands

  • Routinely lifts up to 40 pounds individually, with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds; occasionally may lift items up to 90 pounds (assistance provided for items over 60 pounds)
  • Works in multiple positions during a shift, including sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting daily (up to 30% of the day)
  • Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with maximum safety

Environmental Exposures

  • Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to hot conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
  • Moderate noise level
  • Occasionally exposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles, and sharp-edged materials

Safety Requirements

  • Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection
