Experienced RN - Emergency Department

About the Role

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

The Emergency Trauma Center is a dynamic department where no day is the same. Highlights include:

• Level 1 Trauma and Stroke center, recognized for outstanding trauma services in both Missouri and Arkansas
• Regional Burn Center serving Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma
• 70 exam/treatment areas including 6 designated trauma suites
• 11 beds dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, with specialty trained Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physicians
• Specialty Behavioral Health resources and treatment areas
• SANE Program
• Positive and cohesive relationships with Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians
• Emergency Trauma Center Nursing Fellowship – a full-time, hands-on program designed to increase skill set and comfort level in a fast-paced environment

As a professional nurse in our Emergency Trauma Center, you will interact with nearly every healthcare specialty, caring for patients with minor illnesses to life-threatening diseases or injury.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care utilizing the nursing process
• Maintain professional accountability for patient care
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers
• Coordinate patient care with other departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality

Requirements

• Graduate of a State-approved School of Nursing
• Current RN licensure with the Missouri State Board of Nursing or current RN Missouri temporary work permit
• Hospital-based experience (preferred one year Emergency Department experience)

Certifications

• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card (or completion within probation period)
• ETC and Acute Care Center RNs: Current ACLS card (or completion within 6 months of hire date)
• ETC RNs: Current PALS or ENPC, and TNCC cards (or completion within one year of hire date)
