Experienced Registered Nurse (RN), Cardiac Surgery ICU

Job Requirements

Join one of the nation's leading Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Units at the University of Maryland Medical Center. This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses at UMMC who have greater than 12 months experience.

General Summary

This role involves working alongside nationally recognized surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. It is an opportunity to expand critical care expertise and make a meaningful impact in a premier academic medical center setting.

Work Experience

• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligibility due to Compact state agreements, is required.
• Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education/year.
• Member of a professional organization.
• Recent applicable clinical experience in a comparable setting.

Education and Experience

• Competent evaluation with successful passing of probation.
• Current on all mandatory classes/training.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to lead others, such as effectiveness as charge nurse, preceptor, or clinical resource.
• Demonstrated effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team member.
• Ability to learn and use computer systems to manage patient information.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served.
• Demonstrated/documented highly effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

Patient Safety

• Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.
• Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
• Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority.
• Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
