About the role

Lahey Clinic is offering an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Critical Care Nurse to join their new Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) team. The NCCU is an acute intensive care unit specializing in the care of acutely ill patients with life-threatening neurologic disease or neurological manifestations of systemic diseases. The unit is part of the growing Neurosciences Critical Care within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ways in which nurses come to understand the problems, issues or concerns of patients/families, to attend to relevant/critical information, and to respond in concerned and involved ways.
  • Develops a culturally competent plan of care that identifies patient problems, expected outcomes, and addresses preventative measures.
  • Performs systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings.
  • Delivers care that is specific to the age of the patient.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care and adapts plan based on patient/family response.
  • Establishes professional relationship with nurses, physicians and other colleagues and patients and families.
  • Supports Lahey Clinics commitment to community based activities both within the Lahey community and beyond.
  • Supports the development of others and creates a practice climate of responsiveness and learning based on Benner’s Novice to Expert skills acquisition model.
  • Supports the retention and recruitment of clinically competent nurses.
  • Supports the ability to lead and influence the reasoning of colleagues in the patient’s best interest.
  • Supports the demonstration of professional behavior by adhering to unit policies and procedures, practice guidelines specific to the setting and the ANA Code of Ethics.
  • Supports the demonstration of skills as a responsive team member.
  • Supports the demonstration of role of nurse as teacher.
  • Supports the demonstration of ability to fulfill role in Regulatory compliance and readiness.
  • Achieves clinical scholarship through experiences with patients, through collaboration with colleagues and leadership and through formal education.
  • Supports the transformation of learning into knowledge through self-reflection and analysis.
  • Supports the commitment to life-long learning.
  • Supports the demonstrated evidenced-based practice (EBP) in nursing.

Requirements

  • At least one full year of experience working as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute or sub-acute setting.
  • Prior Neurosciences or Critical Care experience, preferred.
  • Telemetry experience preferred.
  • Graduate of a state approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required prior to start date.
  • Certified Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association, preferred.

  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the unit-specific competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
  • Lifting 75 lbs. minimum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Pay

$37.00 - $95.37 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
