Experienced Registered Nurse, Neuro ICU, 36 hours, Day/Night Rotation

Lahey Clinic is offering an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our new Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) team. As a Registered Nurse in the NCCU, you will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to deliver clinical excellence in patient-centered care, while being empowered through evidence-based practice, continuing education, collaboration, and shared governance to deliver nursing care at the highest level with empathy and kindness in the forefront.

Our Neurosciences Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is the newest unit at Lahey Clinic and is comprised of 9 Intensive Care and 9 Progressive Care beds. Lahey Clinic holds a Comprehensive Stroke Center designation and is proudly growing Neurosciences Critical Care within the organization. The NCCU specializes in the care of acutely ill patients with life-threatening neurologic disease or life-threatening neurological manifestation of a systemic disease. Using the latest technologies, nursing staff deliver care to patients requiring ventilatory support, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, targeted temperature management, osmotic therapy, continuous renal replacement therapy, in addition to providing support and comfort to the families of these patients.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Judgment and Decision Making: Provide safe patient care by demonstrating organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care. Develop a culturally competent plan of care that identifies patient problems, expected outcomes, and addresses preventative measures. Perform systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings. Deliver care specific to the age of the patient. Evaluate effectiveness of care and adapt plan based on patient/family response.
• Professional Relationship: Establish professional relationships with nurses, physicians, colleagues, patients, and families, integrating the patient’s response and their religious/spiritual, ethnic, and cultural beliefs into the plan of care. Educate patients and families about illness and treatment, including preventative measures. Support Lahey Clinic’s commitment to community-based activities.
• Clinical Leadership: Support the development of others and create a practice climate of responsiveness and learning. Demonstrate professional behavior by adhering to unit policies, practice guidelines, and the ANA Code of Ethics. Act as a responsive team member and fulfill roles in regulatory compliance and readiness.
• Clinical Scholarship: Achieve clinical scholarship through patient experiences, collaboration, and formal education. Uphold standards of quality nursing care and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and evidence-based practice (EBP).
• Organizational Requirements: Incorporate Lahey Clinic’s Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities. Comply with all policies and behavioral expectations. Maintain courteous interactions with colleagues and patients. Participate in quality improvement activities, mandatory education, and other duties as needed.

Requirements

• At least one full year of experience working as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an acute or sub-acute setting.
• Prior Neurosciences or Critical Care experience preferred.
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required prior to start date.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association preferred.

• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and use PC skills.
• Physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $95.37 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
