Experienced P&C Field Services Technician
About the role
Enter WSP is currently seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for project locations in Texas and Louisiana. This opportunity supports a wide range of testing and commissioning activities, including protection and control systems on high voltage substations.
Responsibilities
- Execute moderately complex assignments, ensuring regulatory compliance, safety adherence, and data integrity across active job sites.
- Provide day-to-day support to field teams, resolve challenges on-site, and mentor junior technicians to promote quality, efficiency, and safe work practices.
- Support the Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects, escalates complex technical problems or unexpected field conditions, and participate in daily safety briefings.
- Communicate progress, field observations, and potential delays to the project team, review the work of less experienced technicians for quality and accuracy, and assist in monitoring subcontractor performance.
- Perform clerical responsibilities such as timecards, expense reports, and project reports, exercise responsible and ethical decision-making, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with minimum 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
- Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and protective schemes, including relay calibration utilizing test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, testing of the sensing CT/PT circuits, ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays.
- Proven experience with electrical field testing standards, practices, and procedures, such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA applicable standards.
- Experience using technical software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator Quickset for testing purposes and data review.
- Ability to identify routine field challenges and equipment issues, respond within established procedures, and escalate atypical conditions.
- Skilled in preparing field logs, sketches, and digital reports.
- Physical stamina to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
- Experience collaborating with contractors, technicians, and engineers.
- Commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for field team collaboration.
- Capable of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from inspection and testing results.
- Ability to support a wide variety of tasks in dynamic or changing environments.
- Attention to detail when filling out logs, photo documentation, and label entries.
- Collaborate with other technicians to maintain workflow, safety, and quality standards.
- Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and activities and report observations to field leadership.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Technology degree in a similar discipline preferred.
- Experience in testing and troubleshooting electromechanical relays preferred.
- Experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment on high voltage substations such as CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, and DC systems, including batteries and battery chargers preferred.
- Current OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
