About the role
BPMI is a prime contractor for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). We are involved in the design, purchase, quality control, and delivery of major propulsion plant components for installation in nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, submarines, and prototype plants for the U.S. Navy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare project plans to accomplish assigned work.
- Establish, track, and influence progress against schedule and performance goals and provide periodic status updates to management, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Resolve technical, logistical, and funding issues in area of cognizance.
- Prepare specifications for the design, testing, and qualification of new equipment or upgrades of existing equipment.
- Provide technical support and oversight for field operations.
- Team with other engineers performing related phases of the technical work to ensure integration of activities and plans.
- Mentor and train lower-level employees.
- Perform analytical evaluations which may include the development and application of computer models and resolution of issues.
- Prepare revisions to technical manuals, reports, or procedures in accordance with NR Program quality standards.
- Initiate, design, develop, and support the execution and implementation of engineering research and design projects.
- Conduct technical negotiations with suppliers; conduct production reviews and quality surveillance; review and approve supplier designs and supporting technical reports on assigned components and equipment; develop and implement methods to improve supplier performance.
- Prepare letters to the Government providing technical information, recommending approval of technical actions, or obtaining approval of funding.
- Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing or test procedures to verify supplier compliance with contract and design requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's, Ph. D.) may be considered as a partial substitute for required experience, depending on the relevance to the position, but may not fulfill the entire experience requirement.

Pay
Annual Salary Range: $88,000 - $166,300*
Salary and grade commensurate with education and experience.
