Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer - Metallic Castings

Responsibilities

• Design critical cast components that matter.
• Support both off-site metallic casting suppliers and an on-site machine shop through effective collaboration and communication.
• Maintain design control while also helping to evaluate nonconformances from manufacturing upsets.
• Apply engineering analysis and sound design principles to improve performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Work closely with external foundry suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional on-site engineering teams to bring designs to life.
• Own design control activities including drawings, specifications, engineering changes, and technical documentation.
• Investigate manufacturing and field issues, identify root causes, and develop robust engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement in both product design and engineering processes.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical leadership on key projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience
• Knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria
• Good communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
• Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment
• Good problem identification and problem resolution skills
• Displays informal leadership characteristics
• Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking
• Advanced proficiency with specialized software tools and programming languages as required by the role

Qualifications

• Experience with one or more of the following: Designing metallic cast components (investment castings preferred), Mechanical component design and detailed engineering drawing review, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Working with foundries or casting suppliers, Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Product development from concept through production
• Root cause analysis and resolving manufacturing or quality issues

• Total Rewards Package: Salary: $110,000 - $121,000 and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses.
