About the role

Kidwell is seeking an experienced and driven candidate to fill the position of Experience Low Voltage Estimator in our Lincoln or Omaha location. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of project proposals for Kidwell’s partnering general contractors and Low Voltage customers. The ideal candidate will collaborate with Kidwell’s field and pre-sales engineering staff, as well as vendors and partners, to build professional and accurate estimates for Kidwell’s Integrated Systems projects.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and effectively perform all stages of an estimate including estimate organization, take-off, pricing, proposal generation, reviews, change orders, and closeout.
  • Work with pre-sales and field engineering staff to build proposals that include accurate estimates of labor and material.
  • Collaborate with Kidwell’s vendors and partners to locate and track availability of relevant materials for successful project installation.
  • Create, analyze, and maintain correct and accurate quantities and thorough take-offs from plans/specifications.
  • Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
  • Identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
  • Oversee and lead estimating processes on specific bids.
  • Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain the best possible pricing from subcontractors/vendors.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 4+ years of low voltage experience and/or training is required.
  • Previous experience as a Low Voltage Estimator is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability and willingness to learn other estimation-specific software and programs.
  • Technical skills and a passion for continuous learning.
  • Ability to understand all aspects of the estimation process and adapt as business needs change.
