Experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician 2nd shift

About the Role

As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, you will improve safety, quality, and efficiency by performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance. Your effective troubleshooting will ensure operations run smoothly at all times.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on all plant machinery and carry out the preventative maintenance program.
• Accept and control maintenance operations; communicate non-compliance problems to supervisors for instruction.
• Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility.
• Maintain general housekeeping and organization of the maintenance department and equipment repair areas.
• Review the operation of plant equipment and systems to evaluate the need for maintenance or repair.
• Maintain a low percentage of maintenance downtime.
• Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies.
• Continuously review plant equipment and systems to anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in maintenance processes.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through root cause analysis.
• Accurately fill out documentation on work orders.
• Perform emergency maintenance repairs on all plant machinery.

Requirements

• Knowledge of motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
• Ability to interpret blueprints to properly fabricate parts and equipment.
• Experience with equipment installation.
• Ability to correctly retrieve and input data using Excel and CMMS systems.
• Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge.
• Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection, and mechanical bearing systems.
• Experience operating metal working tools such as grinders, band saws, drill presses, and welding equipment.
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

A Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required.
