Experienced Family Nurse Practitioner

Patient Care

Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.

Quality

Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes. Monitors quality of core processes in department. Applies the principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of all patients.

Communication

Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills. Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals. Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers. Participates in regular staff meetings. Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from staff and customers.

Hours

Flexible Schedule/hours available Providers have 1 long day shift, with patient care from 8am to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday, first appointment is at 8am and last appointment ends at 4:30pm. Schedules arranged to comply with 36 hours a week required. On-call responsibilities are distributed among all providers at Bull Run Family Medicine Manassas, Haymarket and Family and Sports Medicine Bristow.

Medical Knowledge

Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians. Obtains complete history and physical data on patients. Reviews patient records. Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.

Additional Skills/Requirements

• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Ability to work with management team and physicians; demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.

Physical Demands

The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

Other

• On call responsibilities as directed.
• Able to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
