About the role

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze power projects and distill technical concepts and information into actionable conclusions and recommendations on which project stakeholders rely to develop, design, construct, operate, and finance energy projects being built in the United States and overseas.
  • Work with multi-discipline project teams to provide a variety of services, such as advising power project developers, evaluating new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing, modeling economic, technical, and market scenarios for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies, and developing planning studies and business cases for utilities, power producers, and government agencies.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or civil/structural engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience. A master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA) is a plus.
  • Experience working on power or transmission projects is preferred, but not required.
  • Relevant coursework/experience in technical report writing, multi-discipline teamwork, data analysis and visualization, project finance or business acumen, conceptual project design, construction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge, and excellent verbal/written communication skills are encouraged.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others.
  • Project planning, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Decision making and judgement.

SkillsLeverage modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
  • Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools.
  • Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
  • Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows.

    Compensation Range: $84,762 - $129,498

    Transparency Statement: Sargent & Lundy discloses compensation ranges that comply with all local and state regulations. The total compensation package for eligible positions will include a base salary or an hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees.

    Individuals may also be eligible to participate in our yearly discretionary bonus.
