Diesel Technician Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, document, and repair engine, transmission, and major component fault codes using OEM software and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, chassis components, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and vehicle reconditioning.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Attend OEM and dealership training programs, both online and in person, as required.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and follow warranty procedures.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a diesel technician, fleet mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or equivalent.
  • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and repair engine, transmission, electrical, drivability, chassis, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Experience using OEM diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools.
  • Formal diesel training and OEM certifications preferred.
  • Cummins and Allison certifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
