About the role

The Clinical Staff Nurse at Holtz Women's and Children - Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position requires a strong foundation in the nursing process and the ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff to implement and coordinate care plans.
• Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to apply nursing knowledge.
• Document all pertinent information regarding nursing care, care plans, and observations.
• Maintain a working knowledge of facility infection control procedures.
• Recognize and report significant patient findings and inconsistencies in medical/nursing orders/treatment regimes.
• Select and individualize clinical procedures/protocols/standards/clinical pathways, plans of care, narcotics policies, and discharge/teaching plans.
• Complete and submit patient/unit charges.
• Assume charge nurse role when assigned, supervising designated personnel, and taking action as needed.
• Apply logic and reasoning to solve problems and make decisions.
• Provide functional direction and assistance to LPN's, CNA's, or MA's, and complete new staff orientation as assigned.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
• Follow and perform all related unit specific policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).
• Perform all other related job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience: 1 to 3 years of related experience. NICU Level 3-4 RN experience highly preferred.
• Education: Associate's degree in Nursing is required. BSN degree is preferred.
• Credentials: Valid Florida RN license is required. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) with 6 months validity and NRP certification may be required at the unit level upon hire.
• Skills: Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines; effective communication skills; ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professionalism; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to exercise sound and independent judgment; knowledge and skill in using job appropriate technology and software applications.
