Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for dental treatment by escorting them to the operatory, ensuring comfort, and reviewing required documentation.
  • Aid the doctor during dental procedures with efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Anticipate provider needs and maintain a smooth clinical flow throughout procedures.
  • Chart clinical notes accurately and in real time during treatment.
  • Educate patients on oral health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care instructions.

Expanded Functions (EFDA Duties)

  • Perform expanded clinical functions as permitted by state law, including but not limited to: Placing restorations, Applying sealants, Coronial polishing (if certified), Applying topical anesthetics, Taking diagnostic radiographs efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure all expanded functions are performed under appropriate supervision and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stock and prepare operatories with instruments and materials prior to each procedure.
  • Maintain strict adherence to CDC and OSHA infection control and sterilization protocols.
  • Clean, disinfect, and reset operatories after each patient.
  • Monitor clinical areas throughout the day to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance.

Scheduling & Workflow Awareness

  • Remain aware of daily schedules and proactively adjust to changes, additions, or emergencies.
  • Support efficient patient flow to maximize provider productivity and minimize patient wait times.
  • Aid with scheduling follow-up and accepted treatment as directed.

Qualifications

  • Active Indiana Radiology License.
  • EFDA training and certification consistent with Indiana regulations.
  • Chairside experience in a general dental practice (preferred).
  • Experience working in a professional office setting.
  • Experience with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software (preferred).
  • C coronal polishing certification (encouraged).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Reliable transportation.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Full-time, onsite position within a dental practice.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, and assisting chairside for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move dental equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Must comply with all safety, infection control, and PPE requirements.
