Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for dental treatment by escorting them to the operatory, ensuring comfort, and reviewing required documentation.
- Aid the doctor during dental procedures with efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Anticipate provider needs and maintain a smooth clinical flow throughout procedures.
- Chart clinical notes accurately and in real time during treatment.
- Educate patients on oral health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care instructions.
Expanded Functions (EFDA Duties)
- Perform expanded clinical functions as permitted by state law, including but not limited to: Placing restorations, Applying sealants, Coronial polishing (if certified), Applying topical anesthetics, Taking diagnostic radiographs efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure all expanded functions are performed under appropriate supervision and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stock and prepare operatories with instruments and materials prior to each procedure.
- Maintain strict adherence to CDC and OSHA infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Clean, disinfect, and reset operatories after each patient.
- Monitor clinical areas throughout the day to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance.
Scheduling & Workflow Awareness
- Remain aware of daily schedules and proactively adjust to changes, additions, or emergencies.
- Support efficient patient flow to maximize provider productivity and minimize patient wait times.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up and accepted treatment as directed.
Qualifications
- Active Radiology License (Required)
- EFDA training and certification consistent with Indiana regulations (Required)
- Chairside experience in a general dental practice (Preferred)
- Experience working in a professional office setting (Required)
- Experience with Dentrix or similar dental practice management software (Preferred)
- Coronal Polishing Certification (Encouraged)
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Reliable transportation
