Exercise Specialist
The Part You'll Play
Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that aligns with the values of the Hilltop's Life Adjustment Program, including Service 1, how we treat each other, and Service 2, how we treat our residents. Service 1 and Service 2 is demonstrated by setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.
Congduct oneself as a leader by taking ownership of the program, ensuring quality of care and commitment to the betterment and growth of the Life Adjustment Program. Offers solutions, develops processes, promotes communication with others, and supports communication from staff to management.
Prioritize tasks and bring concerns to supervisors/managers when necessary. Organize and facilitate resident activities both on and off the Bacon Campus; most facilitated activities will focus on exercise, movement, and wellness.
Meet and follow physical therapist guidelines. Screen resident capabilities for those interested in participating in exercise program activities. Coordinate with Nursing staff to ensure resident physical abilities are reviewed and approved prior to completing resident exercise plans. Regularly schedule MDTs for changes and updates to resident exercise plans.
Complete required documentation, including routine vital health readings for high-risk residents, in a prompt, accurate, and legible way. Administer medications as needed, maintaining records in accordance with specific procedures, rules, and regulations.
Assist participants with activities of daily living to include toileting, walking, meal support, medications, and transferring based on the individual's care plan while on and off campus, including overnight activities.
Provide behavior management techniques appropriate to brain injuries to diffuse anger or keep participants safe and reassured (i.e., distraction, redirection, validation).
Observe and report health or behavior concerns and/or changes to Manager or Supervisor and nurse. Support fellow staff with recreational/exercise activities including planning, facilitating, cueing, documenting, and other duties.
Page 1 of 3 Cue residents to scheduled exercise sessions, fitness classes, or off-campus outings, as needed.
Maintain professional boundaries with all clients enrolled in any Hilltop program or residing at any of Hilltop's facilities, all the while maintaining the dignity, confidentiality, privacy and rights of every client.
Perform other duties of Activity Specialist -- LAP role. May be required to assist in other roles as census and staffing needs occur.
