Exercise Physiologist - Outpatient Rehab (Per Diem)

About the role

We are currently seeking a per diem Exercise Physiologist for our Westport Outpatient Rehab Clinic. Our Outpatient Rehab Clinic in Westport, CT is our flagship location within Fairfield County.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
• Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.
• Makes sure to monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
• Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
• Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
• Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
• Collaborates with physician regarding the exercise prescription for each patient.
• Prepares report on individual patient to appropriate physician.
• Appropriately charts progress in Medical Records.
• Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care.
• Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the departmental equipment.
• Maintains equipment in optimal functioning condition in accordance with manufactures guidelines.
• Provides staff with educational in-service for proper and safe use of equipment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Exercise Physiology / Science or related degree
• M.S. preferred
• Basic monitor interpretation skills and must successfully pass dysrhythmia class within 3 months of hire.
• ACSM Clinical Certification Preferred.
