About the role
Zurich is seeking an Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director – Construction Casualty to join our team in our Boston, MA or New York, NY office. This role offers flexibility with a hybrid work schedule, requiring visibility in the marketplace to meet with agents and brokers three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a customer industry advocate, focusing on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering the best end-to-end solution for their insurance needs.
- Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
- Utilize risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at the point of sale.
- Market-facing and production within the growing Construction division.
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Work within broad limits and authority on complex assignments.
Requirements
- Executive Underwriter – Construction Casualty: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Experience with Microsoft Office.
- AVP, Underwriting Director – Construction Casualty: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Market Facing area or Banking, Mortgage, Finance or Construction OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area or Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Experience with Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and practice of line/s of business.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to effectively assess risk.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment.
Skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
