About the Role

As a General Merchandise & Food Sales Executive Team Leader, you will lead operations, process, and efficiency to ensure a consistent experience for guests by managing product availability, pricing, and presentation on the sales floor. This role oversees General Merchandise (GM), Food & Beverage, and Food Service, ensuring freshness, food safety, and efficient fulfillment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and profitability by managing Food & Beverage, food services (if applicable), inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing for all GM areas.
  • Lead a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency to enable seamless guest delivery through pick, pack, and ship fulfillment.
  • Develop and execute workload strategies to ensure guest readiness at all times.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with your team to monitor task completion and workload management.
  • Oversee all GM backroom and sales floor areas, review reporting to identify gaps, and develop action plans to resolve issues.
  • Manage GM Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, and sales plans for all GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by ensuring accurate and efficient order fulfillment and timely guest deliveries.
  • Foster a culture centered on food safety, training, validating, and coaching the team on proper execution of food safety standards and cleaning routines.
  • Lead an efficient operation to support a sales-driven culture.
  • Oversee Food & Beverage Team Leader workload planning, including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes the guest experience and delivers on store sales goals.
  • Assess the competition, leverage guest insights, and drive business decisions to position Target as the destination of choice.
  • Work a flexible schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure product is in stock, fresh, available, food-safe, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor with minimal guest disruption.
  • Assess GM and Food & Beverage backroom and sales floor areas, walk food standards, and review reporting to identify and resolve gaps.
  • Plan, lead, and follow up on organizational and operational changes.
  • Anticipate and address unique store trends.
  • Develop and coach your team to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management; actively develop, coach, and train your team.
  • Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long-term and short-term team members.
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets guest needs.
  • Demonstrate and uphold a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; hold others accountable to these standards.
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead teams, and hold others accountable.
  • Ability to relate well with and interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, financial, and quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations.
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, and holidays) and regular attendance.
