About the role
SSA Group at the Denver Zoo is seeking an Executive Sous Chef to join our dynamic team. Applications should be submitted within 7 days of posting.
Responsibilities
- Interview, hire, evaluate, reward, and coach kitchen personnel.
- Develop culinary training programs and serve as a culinary resource.
- Ensure all staff completes SSA Safety training upon hire.
- Train kitchen personnel in safe operating procedures and food production principles.
- Direct and coordinate kitchen staff, and communicate with Food and Catering Operations teams.
- Maintain relationships with client staff and manage employee relations.
- Manage employees according to labor laws and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Communicate with Executive Chef to plan menus, manage inventory, and oversee operational reports.
- Support Executive Chef in controlling food costs, preparing operational reports, and maximizing opportunities.
- Implement sustainable resources and promote an inclusive culture.
- Perform other tasks as necessary.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Culinary Arts degree preferred.
- ServSafe or Food Handling Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of HAACP.
Job Requirements
- Three to five years of Junior Sous Chef or similar experience.
- Previous experience in high volume restaurants, country clubs, catering, or cultural attractions.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Computer skills for basic office functions.
