Responsibilities
- Support lawyers in the Firm’s legal departments, as a part of legal support team model
- Aid attorneys in the litigation department in all phases of litigation including, motion practice, discovery, trial and post-trial
- Edit and format documents/pleadings, including motions and supporting memoranda, subpoenas, deposition notices, discovery requests and responses, affidavits, answers and agreements
- Prepare and process electronic filings in federal and state court
- Participate in all phases of pre-trial activities including preparation of witness binders, organizing trial exhibits and coordinating depositions
- Maintain and organize case files
- Monitor docket calendar and coordinate service of filings
- Manage attorney calendars by planning and scheduling meetings, teleconferences, and travel arrangements
- Cook up attorney travel schedules, transportation, and accommodations
- Provide excellent telephone coverage, manage high call volume, and distribute messages in a timely and appropriate manner
- Build client relationships by courteously communicating with clients and co-workers
- Assist in day-to-day duties such as faxing, filing, copying, messenger service, etc.
- Demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality with client and attorney information
- Prepare expense reports via Chrome River system and submit as appropriate
- Enter attorney time and review entries in Intapp
- Liaise with Client Operations team for Partner billing matters
- Prepare correspondence, client materials, and presentation materials
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of administrative legal experience working within a litigation practice
- Comprehensive knowledge of the litigation practice, including e-filing in local and state courts; federal filing experience required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), comfort with technology and ability to learn programs/software
- Self-starter, extremely organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy
- Maintain composure in high-pressure situations and a fast-paced, multi-authority environment
- Multi-task and manage priorities effectively
- Discretion when dealing with confidential matters
- Exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills
- Available to work overtime as needed
